What You Need:
  • Metal Lice Comb
  • Conditioner
  • Bowl of Water
  • Towel or Paper Towels
  • Toys or Food for a distraction

Lice Treatment For Babies:

During bath time or meal time with your baby in a high chair will be the best time to treat your baby for head lice.

  1. Wet your baby's hair and add a small amount of conditioner.
  2. Comb your baby's hair with the metal lice comb. Slick the hair back, moving from the front of the head toward the back of the head.
  3. Inspect the comb for bug or nits (lice eggs). Nits are tear drop shaped and will pop if you squish them.
  4. If the comb has bugs or nits, dip the comb in the bowl of water and wipe on the towel to clean.
  5. Comb all of the hair on your baby's head, repeating the above process.
  6. If lice and/or nits are found, continue to comb through the hair until all of the lice and nits are removed.
It is normally for your baby to become fussy or grab and swat at your hands while you are combing. Try to stay patient during this process and remove as much of the lice infestation as you can. Due to their young age, you may need to repeat the process in sessions. This is okay, just remember to keep up with the process and you will be able to successfully treat your baby for head lice.
